News Alert! ISO/IEC 15288
The revised ISO/IEC 15288 was publihed in April 2008. This version (:2008) incorporates phase 1 of the integration of this standard with ISO/IEC 12207 Software Life Cycle Processes.
SEPT will update all the corresponding checklist and templates by Sept 2008.
Berlin Germany WG 7 Meeting
WG 7 met in Berlin. Germany, 19 May to 23 May 2008 with 31 delegates from 12 National Bodies and five liaisons in attendance
The highlights were:
- Mr. Anatol Kark was appointed as the new Convener of Working Group 7.
- ISO/IEC TR 15271 Guide for ISO/IEC 12207 and ISO/IEC TR 19760 Guide for ISO/IEC 15288
- Document ISO/IEC 24748 “Systems and software engineering - Guide for life cycle management” will be divided into the following parts:
- Part 1 ”Guide for life cycle management”
- Part 2 “Guide for ISO/IEC 15288 (System Life Cycle Processes)” to replace ISO/IEC TR 19760:1998, updated to reflect the changes in ISO/IEC 15288:2008 and according to the terms of reference defined in WG 7 N1128
- Part 3 “Guide for ISO/IEC 12207 (Software Life Cycle Processes)” to replace ISO/IEC TR 15271:1998, updated to reflect the changes in ISO/IEC 12207:2008 and according to the terms of reference defined in WG 7 N1129
- The reasons for doing this include:
- Part 1 was updated from the previous ISO/IEC 24748 PDTR.2 based on the comment disposition WG 7 N1118 without any change of scope
- To simplify recognition of the relevant guidance for Life Cycle Process standards
- To reflect the alignment of ISO/IEC 12207:2008 and ISO/IEC 15288:2008
- Additional parts of ISO/IEC 24748 may be developed to support future needs in such areas as hardware, facilities, services, procedures, etc
- ISO/IEC 16326 Project Management FCD was approved with 200 comments and will move to FDIS ballot, with published sometime in 2009
- Updated the document "Status and Plans of Alignment of ISO/IEC 15288 and ISO/IEC 12207
